On Halloween I started Stephen King's Salem's Lot. (Maybe I can finish it tonight, on Friday the 13th?) I think that King is the best living writer, and this is no exception. King spent the first half of the book in character development, which he's soooo good at. The second half of the book he rips your heart out as you watch them or their loved ones turn into vampires. Who will survive?

I just finished reading speak a minute ago and I have to say that this book was just awesome, I found how the character of Melinda evolved throughout the story and how in the end she faced her fears to be very satisfying, all in all one of my favorite books ever. I will now read the slave dancer over the weekend.

I finished reading Atonement like 2 days ago, I found this book to be very deeply emotional, it basically tells the story of how when Briony sees her sister Cecilia and Robbie have an encounter near a fountain and reads a letter from Robbie that has some strong material she convinces herself that Robbie is a stalker and a pervert; then one night when the twins get lost they go and look for them and Briony accidentally sees her cousin being raped and accuses Robbie of being responsible for it, even though she did not really know who it was. Robbie is sent o jail and gets out after three years with the condition of being in the army, Cecilia never talks to her family again and becomes a nurse, as does Briony, they both help wounded soldiers. In the end Briony is being interviewed, because she wrote a book about the story of Robbie and Cecilia in which she tells of how she went and apologized to them for the lie she made and in which Robbie and Cecilia have a happy ending, but in reality both Robbie and Cecilia die, Robbie during the war and Cecilia during a train explosion. Briony says that she gave them the happy ending she thinks they deserve and that that is her way of asking for their forgiveness even though it's only fantasy. The book has some mature content, but it's a really good book none the less.
